The Atlantic has a great post on the 75th anniversary of the opening of San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge, with a slew of vintage photos. The one above shows pedestrian traffic on the bridge's opening day, May 27, 1937. (Motor vehicles were allowed the next day.)
